OMAR SEBALI

YouTube in Lebanon has always been a place where people upload videos just for fun. When you look at some of the most popular Lebanese channels on the platform, you’ll notice that the majority are owned by television networks and established musicians who had already achieved fame before arriving on the site. However, one Lebanese YouTuber has been able to defy the odds and reach stardom through his hard work and sheer will: Omar Sebali.

Based in Los Angeles California, Omar Sebali is a 23 year old gaming YouTuber who specializes in the horror and indie game genres. Taking inspiration from some of the most prominent content creators, like PewDiePie and DashieGames, Omar began his channel in June of 2015 in hopes of building a loyal community by providing supportive and hilarious commentary over his gameplay. In July of 2017, shortly after graduating from New York University, he was able to turn his YouTube hobby into a full-time career. According to Social Blade, Omar stands today as the top Lebanese gaming YouTuber with over 280,000 subscribers and a staggering 60 million views across his videos.

Having been active on YouTube for over 3 years, Omar now makes his living mainly thanks to the advertisements that appear on his video content. Therefore, keeping his audience engaged and uploading videos frequently is crucial for his career. In addition, he also receives donations from his fans through the site’s “Super Chat” feature whenever he live streams. In November 2017, he received his YouTube Silver Play Button, a coveted award given only to creators who have reached the impressive milestone of 100,000 subscribers. The award was accompanied by a letter from the CEO of YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, congratulating him on his success. Omar shared this achievement on his channel and thanked his dedicated viewers for their loyal support. Thanks to his success, he is now highly sought after for endorsement deals and is often invited to private events held at different locations and conventions such as VidCon and E3.

Lebanon is so proud of this young man’s accomplishments and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors!
